Trip to Italy

We went form 17th to the 21st May.
All in all it was a nice trip.
We started our trip on Monday morning. In Italy we made a stop in Udine.
About 6 o'clock, we arrived in our accommodation.
The mobile-homes, where we stayed were so ugly and too small.

On Tuesday we went to Venice, the whole day. We had to do exercises in groups of four or five people. I went with Lukas, Julia, Madeleine and Katharina. There were so many people and it was quit hot this day.
The food and drinks are very expensive on the streets of the Markusplatz.

On Wednesday we did archery in two groups and in the afternoon we made a bicycle tour and we also stopped to make a picknick.

On Thursday we visited a fishing village and after that we played beach volleyball.
We went to the beach and we swimmed in the sea.

On Friday, we went back home.
It was very boring to drive six hours with the bus.

Presentation - Let's go green

I have just heard a topic on environment and pollution.
In my opinion, the presentation of Paramento was quiet good and I think that they invested a lot of time on their presentation.
For example their wear T-Shirts with the name of their topic "Let's go green".




They also made nice activities in class.
The three girls sometimes proposed questions on us and this made the presentation more interesting, because you had to take attention on what they are saying.

They talked about the climate change. It is affected to all of us.
There are two causes, why this could happen.

One are the natural causes, for example a volcanic eruption and the otherone are human causes.
The Paramento-people gave some advices how people can prevent this.

They also mentioned that their are three points about environmental pollution and health.
The air pollution, the water pollution and last but not least the land pollution.

Paramento showed us two websites:

• WWF
• Greenpeace

On this websites you can get a lot of informations on recycling and composting for example.

All in all the presentation was very informative for me and I really liked it.

Strache claims public security "about to collapse"

I have just read an article in austriantimes.at and it talks about the Freedom-Party leader Heinz-Christian Strache.


Basically what it says is that Strache wanted 1500 more policeman on the streets of Vienna.



He also talked about a 24-hour crime hotline in Vienna.

The reason for that is that break-ins had increased by 70 per cent last year in Vienna.

He also mentioned that there had been 19 000 more crimes in 2009 and
160 000 break-ins last year.

He added that foreigners had been responsible for most of the burglaries.

All together this would cost 250 million euros, but Strache's comment on this is that he also think that this is a lot of money, but its expenditure will make Vienna residents feel safer.

I took this article because I think safety affect all of us.

Christmas traditions all over the world

I have just read something about Christmas on share-christmas.com and it talks about the different countrytraditions all over the world.
Now I am going to present three of them to you:

Ireland:

Do you know why children in Ireland lay their stockings on the bed on Christmas Eve?
The answer is very simple:
Irish children lay their stockings on the bed, because Santa Clause comes and take gifts into it.
Kids put cakes and milk for Santa on a table. The following morning, the children are very surprised if the stockings are full and the glass of milk is empty.


New Zealand:

What does a christmas-tree looks like in New Zealand?
A christmas-tree in New Zealand is Pohutokawa called. It is quiet different from ours, because it is a tree with red flowers.
That's because chrismas is in summer there.



Norway:

People in Norway put a bowl of rice pudding out for the barn elf. Why do they do this?
People put a bowl out for the barn elf so that he will continue to watch over the animals and not turn angry, because they often plays tricks on people.

That's what I'll take home with me (Listening/ Businessbook p. 10)

I have heard an interview in the english lesson and it talks about language assistents.

Flora, who is from Ireland visited Austria.
There are some sentences, which are mentioned in her interview.


1. She said, that she met many people in Austria.

2. Flora was shocked, that people in Austria are allowed to take smoking almost everywhere they want to.

3. She mentioned, that she learned a lot of her own Irish culture.

4. Flora added, that now she know a lot about the Austrian way of life.

5. She said, that she learned a lot about clichés in Austria.

39 Hitler relatives in Lower Austria

I have just read an article in autriantimes. at.
It talks about Hitler relatives and I thought you might be interested, because Hitler was born in Austria.

It is also mentioned that the relatives, who have tracked down are living in Lower Austria.
Journalists called “Hitler-Hunters”, tracked down 39 Hitler relatives.


Basically what it says is that Hitler’s other living relatives live in Lower Austria’s Waldviertel region.
They have taken other names, but they aren’t very different from “Hitler”. For example they are called “Hidler”, “Hietler” or “Hüttler”.
Most of them don’t know about the relationship to Hitler.


I took this article, because I think that it is quite interesting to know what has happened with the Hitler-generation.
